Psalm 121:3 - We're In This Thing Together

Psalm 121:3

He will not suffer thy foot to be moved:

Oh, I have such a wonderful promise here! If I am truly Your child… if I am really looking HEAVENWARD for Your glory, the promise is that no matter what this illness throws my way, my "foot" will not be "moved". The word "foot" can mean "be able to ENDURE", and so by Your grace, O Lord, You will give me strength to keep on trusting. You will:

"..HOLD ..(My) SOUL in LIFE, and suffer..not (my) (foot) to be moved. " (Ps. 66:9)

You will keep on giving me Your grace and power to ENDURE…to ENDURE to the very end!

Lord, as I look up cross references this morning, I have come to this verse, and it makes me think of Cindy Duering.

Psalm 55:22

"Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved."

As I sit here and sing snatches of Cindy Duering's song from this verse, I realize what a powerful testimony she was to me…poisoned years ago by a pesticide spraying of her house and her clothes…writing songs for the glory of God…standing strong for the Lord to the very end (summer'99) in the midst of incredible pain!

"Cast thy BURDEN upon the Lord", it says, Amazing that the word "burden" means "what is given by Providence". YOU have given me this "burden of illness", and I am to throw it back to You! And as I throw it back, that means we're in this thing TOGETHER. My pain is Your pain, and Your promise to me is that You will SUSTAIN me. Sustain means "to keep…to maintain…guide..HOLD…NOURISH…MAKE PROVISION. There's a lot in that definition, Lord. Thank-You that we're in this thing TOGETHER!

Yes, "Providence" has given it, and it has been a heavy weight upon me, but as I "throw it back" to "Providence" – to YOU and to Your SOVEREIGNTY in submission, the BURDEN becomes light because we are in this thing together! Amen!

This makes me think of:

Is. 32:18

"And my people shall dwell in a PEACEABLE HABITATION, and in SURE DWELLINGS, and in QUIET RESTING PLACES."

Since we're in this "thing" TOGETHER, I can "…dwell safely and be QUIET from fear of evil." (Prov. 1:33) Amen!
