Psalm 29:2-5a, 10-11
2 Give unto the Lord the glory due unto this name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.
Lord, in the midst of all the confusion, may I take a moment here to stop and reflect on Your mighty power and worship You!
3 The voice of the Lord is upon the waters; the God of glory thundereth: the Lord is upon many waters.
4 The voice of the Lord is powerful; (turning the waters to ICE- beautiful, glimmering ICE!) the voice of the Lord is full of majesty!
5 The voice of the Lord breaketh the cedars…
The big, beautiful trees are everywhere broken like little toothpicks! Your ICE was TOO HEAVY upon their fragile branches. Ah, but Lord, the little trees are not hurt; it is the big trees with the big branches that have "snapped". Is there a lesson here for me, Lord? Yes, the seemingly STRONG CHRISTIANS are sometimes the "fragile ones" who are most vunerable to the attacks of the enemy-the destroyer of peace. O Lord, make me strong…only YOU can make me and keep me strong!
Yes, in the midst of all this confusion yesterday with no real preparation in Texas for such small disasters like this—no electricity, no water, no phone,--the biggest threat to my peace, Lord, is the disruption to the children's "school routine", their "cabin fever", the lack of my air purifier, and the many exposures I've encountered in order to survive—the propane cookstove, the candles, the car exhaust that flew in my face when I hopped in the car yesterday after my boy started it for me, the perfume at the neighbor's house, the landlord's cigar smoke, and the
plumber's chemicals, the exhaust of the electric trucks as they came coming down the road to rescue us yesterday. BUT…Lord, how I praised You yesterday evening when the electricity came back on after almost 2 days! And thank-you for the good night of rest in spite of the many exposures and "beginnings of feeling ill"! But here I am again this morning, Lord, without electricity, and I am reminded that---
10 The Lord sitteth upon the flood; yea, the Lord sitteth KING for ever.
You are a sovereign God, and You have ordained that the electricity would go off AGAIN this morning. You know, O Lord, my need for cooking since my diet is so "strange". I certainly can't eat meat and low carbohydrate vegetables RAW- although I tried to eat the vegetables raw. (But You know my stomach just can't handle the raw stuff.) And You know my need of rhe air purifier. Thank-You that we were at least able to get the propane cookstove and set it up in the
garage. I gotta leave everything in Your hands! Thank-You for the next verse, Lord!
11 The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with PEACE.
Amen!
P.S. in the afternoon
Thanks, Lord, for bringing the sun and the electric trucks again! Amen!
