God Sits By the Phone

Psalm 121:3b-4

He that keepeth thee will not slumber.

"Keepeth" means "to hedge about (as with thorns)…i.e. guard, gen. to protect…preserve…watchman."

Ah, Lord,…what a blessed thought to know that You are my WATCHMAN and that You are hedging me about with thorns so that the "enemy" cannot get to me and hurt me. You are always WATCHING!

Twice it is mentioned that You will NOT slumber, and "BEHOLD…lo…SEE" it says before the second mention of this truth. Yes, You will NOT slumber ever! Your eyes never get heavy; You never get drowsy; You never "drift off" –even for one moment. What an encouragement this is to me!

Sometimes I call the doctor's office, and the phone just rings and rings. Sometimes I have even called the "after-hours emergency number"..and it takes TOO LONG in my opinion for the doctor to get back to me. I always think, "What if I was on the way to the hospital in an ambulance and they were trying desperately to reach my doctor to know what to give me before beginning treatment since I am so chemically sensitive.

But Lord, You are always there! In case of an emergency, Your phone won't ever ring and ring. You are always AWAKE, right by the phone. What a comfort this is to me! Amen!
