Continuing in Psalm 34

Psalm 34

16 The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

O Lord, this is hard. After I die, I do want to be remembered by those I love. And I am so evil Lord. But IN the Lord Jesus Christ…I am righteous. He is my righteousness. Hallelujah!

17 The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of ALL their troubles.

O Lord, here's the promise AGAIN! With this verse You are making it known to me LOUD and CLEAR that You are hearing my cries! The psalmist gave his testimony in verse 6 that You heard his cry, and so he is sure that you will hear the cries of the rest of the righteous, too (verses 15 and 17).Yes, You will deliver them out of ALL their troubles…out of ALL their afflictions and "tight places". Yes, this is a wonderful promise, Lord. You have always delivered me out of my troubles…sooner or later. And yes, You always will…even if it only means final deliverance by taking me UP away from this evil world full of sin, sickness, and sorrow. Hallelujah!

18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirt.

Lord, the word "broken' means "to burst…bring to (the birth)…" My heart is bursting! I am in physical pain and are there no answers? As I prayed for answers yesterday and cried to You as I walked in the field, my heart "burst" also to see what a wretched sinner I am. My spirit was "crushed"…but herein lies HOPE…because of this verse. You SAVE those who are contrite and broken in spirit and in heart. The word saveth means "to be open, wide or free... ...HELP…get victory". Surely You will unlock the prison doors and fling them OPEN for me!
Surely I will go FREE like a little bird whose cage has been OPENED. You will rescue me! You will HELP me! Surely You will – for the verse before my eyes this morning was Is. 50:9:

"Behold, the LORD GOD will HELP me.."

Amen!
