Continual Ponderings From Psalm 34

Psalm 34

10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.

Young lions are sometimes hungry, but here is a promise for me here in this verse that I shall never be hungry. In fact, I shall not want (LACK) any GOOD thing. That means everything I need shall be supplied! (Phil. 4:19) It is a blessed comfort to lay hold of the promise, but I must not forget the condition. The promise is ONLY for SEEKERS…seekers of the LORD.

Another promise comes to mind from Deut. 4:29 –

"…thou shalt FIND him, if thou SEEK him with all thy heart and with all thy soul."

Seeking involves total commitment and absorption – with ALL THY HEART… with ALL THY SOUL!

O Lord, set my soul AFIRE again!

I shall not lack any good thing…The Lord knows what I need for my physical well-being – the food, water, clothes, shelter, supplements, and medicines, but the SPIRITUAL is oh so much more important! The word "good" has some of these definitions – "beautiful…bountiful, cheerful, joyful….kindness…most pleasant…precious, wealth… prosperity." Ah, it is true, Lord! IF I am seeking You, I will not lack! I shall receive that which is really beautiful, bountiful, joyful…PRECIOUS! Seeking YOU always brings true spiritual wealth and prosperity!

You say to me, "I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall NEVER HUNGER; and her that believeth on me shall NEVER THIRST." (Jn. 6:35)

11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

Lord, as I read this verse this morning, my heart cries to gather my younger children before me once again each day that I might share with them the meditations that You have blessed me with. "Come, my children, HEARKEN unto me. Hear intelligently, attentively, obediently! Consider and discern God's Word." _- These are the words I will say to them, by Your grace. Yes, give grace, O Lord, that I might feel well enough to somehow make this "special time of
instruction" happen in their lives daily, consistently, once again.

The word "fear" means "reverence".

"The LORD is in his HOLY temple: let all the earth keep SILENCE before him." (Hab. 2:20)

This is the verse You want me to have the children write out and think upon today. Time is short, and REVERENCE is needful in our lives.

12 What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?

ME, Lord,…. I wish for LIFE! I sometimes think I'm dying… and I WISH FOR LIFE! Lord I would love to experience GOOD, too!

"…RIGHTEOUSNESS tendeth to life"…(Prov. 11:19a)

"The FEAR OF THE LORD tendeth to life:…(Prov. 19:23a)

"My son, forget not my LAW; but let then heart keep my commandments. For LENGTH OF DAYS, and LONG LIFE, and peace, shall they add to thee."

From all these verses I gather that there are things that tend to lengthen life, by God's grace. I'd better take notice. :)
